Ruger was our first weimaraner, and just about the best dog
anyone could ask for. Originally purchased as "just a pet" from an ad
placed in the local Sunday newspaper, our association with "the Rugester"
changed our lives forever! Ruger was a smaller male, 25 inches at the withers, who exuded personality. When he was only 6-months old, our "non-dog" friends dubbed him "America's favorite puppy". Now, that's saying a lot ! While we never intended to show him, we started thinking "if any dog deserves to be a Champion, its Ruger..." So, we decided to give it a try. Phil said, "Just one show. If he does something, we'll continue, if not, then he'll have taken his spin in the ring." Well, guess what? He went out and won Winner's Dog and Best of Winner's nabbing a 4-point major! Sixteen shows later, we had ourselves a new Champion!

| Ruger was birdy, loyal and intelligent. He finished his CD with placements, earning him a spot on the obedience top ten list. Ruger always did whatever we asked of him with his whole heart and soul. In return, we loved and cherished him with all our heart and soul. For us, there will always be special dogs in our lives, but there will never be another Ruger. Sadly, we lost Ruger at the age of 12 on February 10, 2003. |
