Undefeated in regular puppy classes, "Rio" began gathering points at 7 months-no surprise with a puppy from the breed's first litter produced by mating two best-in-show winners.  He finished his championship in short order, but never campaigned as a special.

Bred sparingly, Rio is the sire of 2 multiple best-in-show winners, 2 futurity winners, 2 maturity winners, and seven BROM producers.

Rio consistently passed his smooth lines and sound, balanced structure to his progeny as well as  his special sweetness and tractable temperament.  His special contribution, however, comes from the highly complementary nick when his progeny are crossed with those from his litter brother CH Ann's Magic v.d. Reiteralm, BROM, and the linebred descendants of Rio and Guy appear in the pedigrees of many top winners and producers.  Together Rio and Guy are in the pedigrees of 38.9 percent of the futurity and 54.2 percent of the maturity winners from 1982 to 1990.
